The Software Engineer will be responsible for the documentation, design, development, unit testing and integration testing of Embedded Software. In this role the Software Engineer will also use experience and expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives, and have the ability to affect short-term and long term business objectives.Essential Responsibilities:As the VxWorks Software Engineer, you will:Have a strong foundation in Computer Hardware to include: Processor architectures IO Bus and communication facilities Peripheral interfaces DMA data transmissions Have thorough knowledge in Operating Systems Design/Internals: Baseline understanding of software facilities to support the above Be comfortable and proficient with digital hardware: Knowledge of digital logic fundamentals Collaborate with in-house Hardware engineers on best Hardware/Software implementations Proficient at reading schematics; Hardware design specs Promising candidate has likely used simple test equipment such as an oscilloscope in prior efforts Experience with logic analyzers and/or Hardware emulations tools Strong experience in OS Driver Development: Working with Hardware developers and Software peers Writing OS drivers (and layered libraries) for locally-developed Hardware facilities Development of VxWorks drivers most valued Experience developing for other Operating Systems may suffice Discipline to approach design challenges / problems systematically Must be capable of communicating amongst peers and to management: In verbal and written form Request assistance from peers Report plans and progress to manager Document technical details to testing team and to publications experts Qualifications/Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering from an accredited university or college Demonstrated experience in developing software using structured software design techniques. Demonstrated experience with C programming language Have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States Eligible to work on ITAR projects. Demonstrated experience with logic analyzers and/or emulation tools. Minimum of 5 years of professional level experience operating in a software development role Additional Desired Characteristics: Basic C++ knowledge Wind River VxWorks OS Driver development Ability to define clear and concise project requirements Solid written and verbal communication skills Skilled in developing at the Embedded level with knowledge in VxWorks Excellent communication and organizational skills Ability to multi-task while remaining organized and productive Strong interpersonal skills Why Kelly (R) ?
